Tell Me That It's Over
High school seniors in 2020 remember the start of the pandemic well. Seemingly starting as an abrupt and impromptu two-week break from school, the presumed harmless time off drifted into never stepping foot on their high school campus as a student again.
With the pandemic over, it could present as amusing and overdone to still be writing about the effects of the infamous start of COVID. However, four years have passed and for those students that went on to college right after graduating high school, their time to shine is likely coming up as the class of 2024.
It is not easy to summarize every single COVID-19 senior into one experience. However, it is a fact that the future for all is unknown. In the unknown, it is agreeable that there is inevitable uncertainty. This makes the future quite scary for some; overwhelmed and possibly burdened with choice and possibilities of what could be.
College students either jump for joy in the hands of change or crumble in crisis at the idea of doing something new. Moving on from familiar routines can be scary, and it is also a chance to welcome something different.
The idea that we will never again view the world as we do right now and that we are never the same as we are in the present moment is a beautiful thing. Change can be a beautiful thing.
