About Zoe

Zoe Malen is constantly growing as a leader in the creative fields. She is a co-founder of a film production company, GoodKid. She was the First Assistant Director, Producer, Scriptwriter, and more for a Nevada Best Film titled ICON. This film was also invited to participate in the Cannes Film Festival and won Best Cinematography and Best Poster, which she designed. She is the Director of a short documentary titled Love Letter to Life which won her a Best Directing award, an Award of Excellence from the BEA Festival of Media Arts, and two nominations from the Nevada Women’s Film Festival for Best Short Documentary and Best Student Film. More recently, she is the director of a short film titled Don’t Tell My Mother, which was released in May 2024. She is currently co-directing a film titled The Heart Exhibit, which is coming soon. 

All four of these films cover topics that are extremely important to Zoe regarding girlhood, mental health, vulnerability, perception, family/friends, and connecting with your inner child. Zoe always keeps busy with creative projects either actively being pursued or growing in the ideation stages.

She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a journalism major, an emphasis in film and media production, and a minor in videography. She ended her college career as the President of the UNR National Press Photographers Association chapter, Photo Editor for The Nevada Sagebrush, and visual intern with KUNR Public Radio.

Zoe is currently based in Reno, NV and continues her craft by exploring visual storytelling through documentary work, filmmaking, photojournalism, and photography.
